3rd TERANINO FESTIVAL
ENJOY TERANINO IN A PLACE WHERE LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL
Today in Bale, the 3rd Teranino Festival was announced. It will take place on March 7th and 8th in the sports hall and the tent next to it. There will be 20 exhibitors, and the bands S.A.R.S. and Vatra will perform.
The goal of the event is to promote the liqueur made from Teran red wine and spices that give it a uniquely seductive and aromatic taste.
Clove, cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, cherry, walnuts, and strawberry are the ingredients that influence the freshness, acidity, sweetness, or bitterness of Teranino. A typical Teranino, as stated today by Renato Krulčić, president of the Lambik association (active since 2006), should contain between 15% and 22% alcohol and at least 120 grams of sugar. The process of obtaining the IQ Istrian Quality label is also underway to geographically protect Teranino. The festival in Bale has certainly contributed to this initiative, emphasized the Mayor of the Municipality of Bale, Edi Pastrovicchio. The best producers of Istrian Teranino will be revealed on the festival's first day, Friday, March 7th, when the opening program begins at 3 PM.
After the tasting session, at 9 PM, visitors will enjoy a concert by the band S.A.R.S., while on Saturday, March 8th, the band Vatra will perform. On both days, the opening act will be the Rijeka-based band The River Sharks.
Concert tickets are available at a promotional price of 15 euros in presale and can be purchased online via the Eventim.hr platform and at Eventim sales locations (Tisak, Petrol, Crodux). On the day of the concert, tickets can be purchased at the entrance to the tent next to the sports hall for 20 euros. A promotional ticket package for both concerts is available only in presale for 25 euros.
Entrance to the Teranino Festival is free, while the initial tasting package costs 7 euros and includes a glass for tasting and two consumption vouchers. Additional consumption costs 3 euros per voucher, while cocktails cost 6 euros, as reported today by Irina Gobbato, head of the Administrative Department of the Municipality of Bale.
In the spirit of the festival, a Teranino & Paint workshop will be held on both days, starting at 4 PM. Registration for the workshop is possible via Amanda Madena's Instagram profile or by email at amandatica@yahoo.com. All participants, announced Anja Ilijašević Mitrović on behalf of the organizers, will paint the figure of the Teranino Woman, as the event coincides with International Women’s Day. Naturally, a recurring motif in the paintings will be a butterfly, the symbol of the Municipality of Bale. Each workshop session will host a maximum of 12 participants.
An invitation to both locals and guests was also extended by Nensi Pereša, director of the Bale Tourist Board. She emphasized that the Teranino Festival, besides enriching the early-season offerings on the western coast of Istria, is also based on the fact that Bale is part of the Cittaslow association, a network of slow-living towns. The initiative started in Tuscany in 1999, and today, it includes over 300 towns in more than 30 countries, with Bale being the only Municipality in Croatia, alongside Makarska and Samobor. These towns are recognized for promoting local experiences, greenery, social awareness, circular economy, a peaceful and relaxed lifestyle, and the preservation of historic town centers.
Events like this, Pereša pointed out, where citizens, restaurateurs, artisans, and associations collaborate to promote a local product, truly embody the Cittaslow philosophy. The Tourist Board will continue to encourage joy and positive living, a return to authentic values despite consumerism, and the preservation of community spirit in modern times.
Pereša concluded by inviting everyone to enjoy Teranino in a place where life is beautiful.
